Bad news for some perhaps …..The deadline for activating your mySRAaccount has now passed [it was last Friday, 13 January].
Good news for all though …….. The online renewals process for practicing certificates and recognition is now available to all firms and individuals. However note the deadline for completion is dependent on the first-occurring letter of your full
Firms and individuals who are renewing their own certificate or registrations, with a first-occurring letter for their full name of A to D, have until Monday, 13 February 2012 to complete the process.
Firms and individuals with a first-occurring letter of E to Z have until Tuesday, 21 February. This SRA say the deadline has been extended to take account of the later start date of the process for these firms and individuals.
They also confirm that Practising certificates, registrations for RELs and RFLs, firm recognitions and sole practitioner authorisations will remain valid in the meantime, as long as individuals and firms apply for renewal when the process opens to them.

The Law Society has issued a practice note about the risks to solicitors posed by this new legislation, which came into force on 30 September.
The SRA has urged all practices to check HM Treasury’s consolidated list of asset freeze targets, which lists designated persons subject to financial sanction under EU or UK legislation.
The practising certificate renewal period opened on Monday 2 October.
