The SRA Handbook has been updated.
The eighteenth edition of the Handbook was released on 1 November. The amendments relate to the changes which came into effect on that date relating to CPD. In particular, the repeal of the SRA Training Regulations 2011 Part 3 - CPD Regulations, with the effect that the continuing competence regime is mandatory, as distinct from the last practising year, in which the option of continuing to comply with the CPD requirement of 16 hours (subject to certain variations to this amount) was also available.
The November update follows two previous editions of the Handbook published this year, which made the following amendments:
The amendments highlight the need to always refer to the latest online edition, rather than a printed copy, of the SRA Handbook.

The Law Society has issued a practice note about the risks to solicitors posed by this new legislation, which came into force on 30 September.
The SRA has urged all practices to check HM Treasury’s consolidated list of asset freeze targets, which lists designated persons subject to financial sanction under EU or UK legislation.
The practising certificate renewal period opened on Monday 2 October.
